Sattvik Council of Australia Inc
Business Registration and Directory Terms and Conditions
Version 1.0

1. Agreement and authority

These terms apply when you register, submit, update or manage a business listing through the Sattvik Council of Australia Inc (SCA) business portal. “You” means the person submitting the registration and, where you act on behalf of a business, that business. By accepting these terms, you confirm that you are authorised to act for the business and agree to these terms on its behalf.

2. Purpose and fair access

The directory connects Sanatan (Hindu) businesses and customers with other businesses and helps people discover businesses that operate in line with Sanatan values. SCA welcomes businesses whose conduct aligns with those values, regardless of the religion, race or ethnicity of their owners, staff or customers. SCA assesses participation against the business’s conduct and these published terms. SCA does not require anyone to identify with, profess or practise a religion as a condition of registration.

For the directory, alignment with Sanatan values means acting honestly and with integrity, treating others with dignity and respect, trading fairly, showing compassion and care for the community, and avoiding unlawful discrimination, harassment and harm. You agree to apply these standards when using the portal and dealing with people you connect with through it.

3. Your responsibility for your business and content

You are responsible for your own actions and the actions of anyone you authorise to use your account. This includes the accuracy, legality and suitability of everything you submit or publish, including business details, descriptions, offers, claims, links, logos, photographs, videos and other media.

You confirm that your submissions are accurate, current and lawful, and that you will promptly correct or remove anything that becomes inaccurate or that you are no longer entitled to publish. You are responsible for holding the licences, registrations and permissions required for your business activities and for substantiating the claims you make.

You must not upload material that is misleading, defamatory, threatening, discriminatory, infringing, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful. Do not include confidential or personal information about someone else unless you are authorised to share it for the intended purpose.

4. Rights and permission to display media

You confirm that you own the content you upload or have the permissions needed to submit it and allow SCA to display it. This includes permission from copyright and trade mark owners and any consent required from identifiable people featured in the content. You remain responsible for meeting attribution and other conditions that apply to your material.

You retain your rights in your content. You give SCA a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, process, format and display the content as reasonably necessary to operate the portal and display the listing you have authorised. This permission ends when the listing is removed, except as reasonably necessary for backups, recordkeeping or legal obligations. SCA may use service providers for those limited purposes.

5. Directory listings and transactions

SCA provides the directory to help people find and contact businesses. A listing, email verification or approval for publication does not certify the business, independently verify its claims or guarantee its goods or services. Users should make their own enquiries before transacting.

Any quote, contract, purchase, payment, refund or dispute between you and a customer or another business is a matter between the parties involved. You are responsible for your offers, service delivery, customer dealings and legal obligations. SCA is not a party to those transactions.

6. Liability and claims

To the extent permitted by law, SCA is not liable for loss arising from information or media supplied by you or another user, the conduct of a listed business, or a transaction arranged between directory users. Publishing, reviewing or approving a listing does not transfer responsibility for its content to SCA. This limitation applies only to the extent the loss is attributable to the user content, conduct or transaction and does not excuse loss to the extent caused by SCA’s own acts or omissions.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to reimburse SCA for reasonable, direct losses and costs it incurs in responding to a third-party claim to the extent caused by your unlawful content, infringement of another person’s rights or material breach of these terms. SCA will give you reasonable notice of the claim and take reasonable steps to limit its losses. This obligation does not cover any portion of a loss caused by SCA.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

7. Publication, moderation and removal

SCA may review submissions before publication and may request clarification, evidence or corrections. SCA may decline, suspend or remove a listing on reasonable grounds, including material inaccuracy, infringement, unlawful conduct, a breach of these terms or a credible risk of harm. Where practical, SCA will tell you the reason and give you a reasonable opportunity to respond or correct the issue. SCA may act promptly where needed to address a legal, safety or security issue.

You may request a correction or removal of your listing, or report a concern about another listing, through the contact details published on SCA’s website. Removing a listing does not prevent SCA from retaining records where reasonably necessary for legal, administrative or dispute purposes.

8. Account and public information

Keep your login email and verification codes secure, and tell SCA promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. If you consent to a public listing and SCA publishes it, the business details, contact information and media included in the listing may be visible to the public. Only provide listing details and media you are authorised to make public. SCA handles registration information in accordance with applicable privacy law and its published privacy notice, where available.

9. Changes and applicable law

SCA will make updated terms available through the portal and provide reasonable notice of material changes. Where a material change affects your existing listing, SCA may ask you to accept the updated terms to continue using the directory. You can request removal if you do not wish to continue. The laws of New South Wales and applicable Commonwealth laws govern these terms, subject to any rights that apply under NSW, Australia law.
